The 5th Rift Valley Festival takes place from 29th - 31st August 2014 at the Fisherman's camp, Lake Naivasha, Kenya.
It's an opportunity for both the local and international tourists to experience a three-day musical and art journey in the heart of the Great Rift Valley.
The Rift Valley Festival continues to grow and gives you much more than music. There are several activities available throughout the weekend
The Festival is a completely unique and inspiring event in one of the world’s most breath-taking place, The Great Rift Valley, Kenya.
And its not just music as they put it; a team
of artists from Kuona Trust will make the festival site explode with live art all weekend. There's also other activities lined up during the event. They include boating and water sports, kiddy heaven,craft village, and others.
The three-day annual festival provides a platform for the beautiful music of Kenya, East Africa, and beyond on an international stage.
The performances take place on the shores of Lake Naivasha, surrounded by great landscapes and awesome African wildlife.
The festival also features international guests to promote Kenya and Africa as a culturally rich, diverse and beautiful part of the world.
The 2013 line up had Blankets and Wine hosting their monthly live event at the festival on Sunday the 1st September.
The festival site will be a wonderland of magic arenas such as "Art In The Heart", "Craft Village", "Home Of A Hundred Drums", "Kiddy Heaven", "Boutique Camping" and all under the stars of Kenya's Great Rift Valley.
The 2012 line up, had Suzanna Owiyo (Kenya), Olith Ratego (Kenya), Owiny Sigoma Band, (Kenya/UK), Rumba Japan (DR Congo), Joe Driscoll (US), Sekou Kouyate, (Guinea), J. Star (UK), Yamyam (UK), and others.
The festival’s charitable purpose is to raise funds directly for the local community in the Lake Naivasha area.
Part of the profits from ticket sales are used to help provide clean, accessible water supply, improve sanitation and to support projects promoting environmental awareness.
Other activities in Naivasha can include
visiting the Hell's Gate
National Park with
attractions ranging from wildlife viewing to birding, hiking, rock climbing,
and much more.
You can also go hiking at Mt. Longonot National Park with an Extinct Volcano and Crater forest. Other attractions here are Scenic Landscapes, views of Lake Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley. The park is also a paradise of birds of prey.
There's no shortage of tourist attractions and activities around the Lake Naivasha area.
